Signing of LOA - CSWCD & CMC

CSWCD's Sikhay Kilos radio program aired over DZUP 1602 has been officially SEALED!

 The official signing of Letter of Agreement (LOA) between the College of Social Work (CSWCD) and the College of Mass Communication (CMC) for the one-hour weekly program of CSWCD entitled "Sikhay Kilos"was held today, 4pm, at the College of Mass Communication today.

Sikhay Kilos sa Radyo DZUP 1602 started its first episode last Friday, September 10, 2010, as part of the "AT Your Service" block strip which airs from 12 o'clock noon to one o'clock in the afternoon from Monday to Friday. The College maintains the Friday noon slot.

The students involvement through class sponsorship is one unique feature of the CSWCD radio program. The next four episodes of Sikhay Kilos will cover migration issues with SW 225 students under the supervision of Prof. Yolanda Ealdama of the Department of Social Work.

The public can also look forward to the future episodes on Disaster Risks Reduction and Management to be sponsored by the Department of  Community Development under the Prof. Elmer Ferrer. Highlights of the episodes include the one year commemoration of Typhoon Ondoy and the CSWCD's continuing initiatives to respond to the challenges.

The Department of Women and Development Studies will tackle women related issues. Prof. Roselle Leah Rivera, Department Chair and Sikhay Kilos alternate Program Host, will take the initiatives in leading the women related episodes.

The Research and Extension for Development Office, research and extension arm of CSWCD, under the guidance of Prof. Rainier V. Almazan, will spearhead discussions on sectoral issues involving peasants from the Center for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (CARRD), informal sectors from the Alliance of Progressive Labour (APL) and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) organizations which include Breaking Barriers for Children and Youth with Disabilities and AMMADO Foundation.
